The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who holds the post of the senior-most executive magistrate of a district in India is known as a District Magistrate, or DM. A D.M. is a district magistrate who is in charge of the general administration of a particular Indian district. In India, there are approximately 718 districts, each of which is led by a D.M. Various posts at the lower level of the administration, such as tehsils, blocks, and so on, help the D.M. How to become D.M: A candidate who wishes to become a DM must take the IAS test (also known as the UPSC Exam) and place among the top 100 students. After achieving the highest possible position in the UPSC Civil Service Exam, a candidate can join the Indian Administrative Service as an officer (IAS). An IAS officer can become a D.M. after one or two promotions.

What steps do I need to take to become a D.M? Candidates who want to become a D.M. must first complete their bachelor’s degree and then take the UPSC’s Civil Services Exam (CSE). To become an IAS officer, one must have a high ranking among the top 100 candidates.
